Hi Nick, there is one in my garage. It is out of my early Westfield, which is fitted with a Type E Four-Speed Box and an Escort diff.
I am certain the flanges are the same, but will check and make sure. I will also measure the length in the morning if you think it is any good.

Hi Nick,
I have just been and measured the prop-shaft and it is 84.0cm, from the flange to the very end of the part that slides into the back of the gearbox. When you said 80.5cm between the flanges, where exactly were you measuring from/to ?

Regards
Jon

hi Jon . When i measured i didn't measure the distance inside the gearbox end so that explains why your measurement is larger. Im going to the car now so i ll have another measurement and maybe some photos.it ll be about 20 min till im at the car . Cheers !

Hi Jon ! I've been a while because I've spotted a potential problem ! I've got the 'original' propshaft from the donor cortina 1600e and thought id slide it onto the gearbox end to see how far in it went ! But it doesn't want to go in ! So i counted the teeth on the gearbox end - 16 . With 20 grooves inside old propshaft end ! So could you count the grooves inside the end of your propshaft please ?

Hi Nick,
as discussed on the telephone, mine seems to have 24 splines and is therefore no good to you. It sounds like you have an Escort gearbox with the Integral Bell-Housing. I am not sure which Escorts thy were fitted to, but there is bound to be someone out there that does know.
Teegray19's may be the one you need, and his is just a little bit further North than me.
Good luck , and let me know how you get on.

Regards
Jon

Hi again ! I think it is a bit too long and it looks like its got a flange to fit an escort diff. These could possibly be modified but maybe a can of worms ! Thanks for trying to help . - nick

Its on a 1600 crossflow .Just spoken to dunning and fairbank . They tell me it would need shortening and the cost for that would be £45+ vat ! I got a price off them yesterday for a brand new one made from scratch £105+vat . So unfortunately it doesn't work out any cheaper buying a second hand one if it needs altering . I was hoping to buy a good second hand one that would just fit straight away .Maybe i was been a bit too hopeful. So i ll just have to buy a new one. But thanks teegray and everyone else for trying to help . Much appreciated. Cheers - Nick

No probs. As I say it fit really well in my f27 with a crossflow and the same box as your using. Might just need a couple of new engine gearbox mounts cheaper than that prop!
