I hit a pot hole

Driving home last night and went through what I thought was a puddl, ended up being a massive pothole!!

A news reporter was at the side of the road becasue I was the 7th person to go through it and get a puncture, AA man was on site!!

I managed to single handed change my wheel in 7 mins!! Apparently quicker than the AA guy!

Any way I may be in the local news because of this!

apparently there was a cone in it bit a car hit it and dragged ot down the road!

By the time I had changed the wheel help, someome else and walk back a cone was in it again.

only 2 sevens, unlucky for some I guess?!? At least it did not split the rim.

he he, neither.

I was a little frustrated at the reporter as he wanted me to pose and work at different angles. I just ignored him if he wanted me to do something I could not be arsed to do. At the end I gave him a smile before throwing the stuff in the boot and driving off.

I've had to deal with this a few times, including arguing with the local council. Around here the potholes are big enough to lose a wheel in, regular enough that you can never relax and usually hidden by rain. I went out on a crusade last winter photographing and reporting dozens of them, including raised ironwork that wasn't even marked, road repair hardware with no lights, reflective strips or cones parked in the middle of the lane on an NSL! (we're talking the road skimmer here, not a mini digger either!), ramps without any marking etc.

Sent them all to the council, they asked if I'd damaged anything and sent out a claim letter (I had, ripped a tyre open on the raised ironworks) and didn't give a damn. Eventually I got hold of their highways engineering bunch who claimed all the works were within regulations, I proved they were not with the photos, and they went silent. While I was taking the photos I saw one car almost dissappear into a hedge after hitting an unmarked ramp and two rip tyres.

This is 18 months after the last time I hit a pothole filled with water and bent a shock absorber and demolished a wheel, emailed them a warning and they started a claim for me without me asking.

I give up, it's a joke.

Here's a small selection, open access on the album
