What a C**K up

Well i as i had sorted the lights out on the new dash and all working sort of ok, i set to at the gauges of the Capri 6 pod i have for it, BUT when i was sorting the wires, that i had marked up from the previous MK1 Escort dash, all the markings have come off , spent hours trying to work them out but no luck, and all the wires have been fettled in the past by by looks a dozen previous owners as some wires are infact 3 joined up.

Sooo what i need is to rewire the gauges but i dont no where the fires come from in the loom, from relays, direct from fuse etc.

what i need is anyone can help and tell me where the wires come from on for the

Temp gauge
fuel
volt
rev counter.
dash lights

just need to wire it up and its off for the MOT and ready to play.

cheers

wolly

All the wires come from the loom.. and go back again.. only way to tell what is what is either with the original wiring diagram OR being very patient with a 5v battery and a multimeter. You should be able to determine the +ve and -ve then work on from there. Problem is some of the gauges may have there own dedicated +ve which makes it a lot more difficult to work out flow and return.

Wiring diagram is by far the easiest and when i get round to it I need to do exactly the same with the Astra dash I have here.

temp gauge comes from the temp sender in the head - it's a -ve and the +ve comes from the voltage stabiliser
fuel gauge comes from the fuel sender in the tank - also a -ve and the +ve also comes from the voltage stabiliser
voltmeter can come from anywhere in the circuit, even the battery (+ve & -ve)
rev counter (assuming RVC and not RVI) comes from the coil output (RVI comes from the input) - check escrote/crapi manual
dash lights comes from the sidelight switch

Thanks for that kida, all i need to do now though is work out how to wire up the 3 connector nuts on the back of the tacho, i have got new dash lights and going to get seperate gauges to replace the capri ones, better than having a dodgy volt reg fitted.
I have a capri skematic but it doesnt show the rev counter on it.

Thanks again tho for the offer.
