Flatshifting Up problems, false neutrals.
Hi all, When using the clutchless shift going up the box on full throttle im finding from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4th (havnt tried any higher gears yet)
its jumping to a false neutral and the revs just shoot up as my foots on the floor. The car has no drive and im struggling to find a gear (gear
indicator shows 0 at this time) and i have to coast to a halt then find 1st and pull away again. I guess I could force a gear in whilst coasting but I
dont like the crunching noise its giving trying to engage a gear (btw clutch is fully engaged during this gear finding). Going down the box (it isnt a
clutchless flatshifter) with the clutch is fine. Its a flatshifter expert and im suspecting its this thats causing a problem. Or could i be wrong and
it might be a gearbox issue? Iv phoned MNR to get it looked at soon but would like a little heads up on what ppl might have experienced or think it
is.
Iv experienced this just a handfull of times whilst shifting on a motorbike but this is happening all the time in the car on full throttle and only
started playing up today.

Most probably selector fork problems in the gearbox.
Failing that - are you remembering to fully release the gear lever between up-shifts?
In the heat of battle it is easy to forget and you wonder why you can't select the next gear.
Another thought - have you got sufficient throw on the gear lever/rods. Anything come loose or moved/bent?

Thats a good shout, i seem to remember having the same problem and it turned out to be travel.....or not enough of it in the gear linkage to properly
engage the gear, and it just popped out under load. This was in a blade engined fury and im sure the gear selector part on the spline from the box was
just a fraction loose so it wasnt rotating as it should.

I often found false neutrals when I had a sloppy gear linkage, usually between 1st and 2nd going up the gears. It made an awful sound :s

i had the exact same issues when fitting my flatshifter to my radical. it was mounted to close to the pivot point of the selecter so couldn't
use its full 1" of travel. the flatshifter actuator rod needs to use the FULL travel (just over 1" either direction)

Thanks for the replies fellas. I'm definitely making sure he lever is back in place after pulling it to change up. Even so to the point where
I'm pushing it forward with my finger tips to make sure it's not sticking. When it's happening It's like a spongy feel like
I'm pulling on hard rubber more so than a nice mechanical clunk. I'm honking the linkage is the where the problem is!

the flatshifter need at least 1" travel to work correctly. how much travel is there currently on the selector? put a picture up and ill explain
what I mean. its not the lever its the actuator rod which is fastened to you gear selector arm!

Thanks Daniel unfortunately it cant take any pics as I'm off to sea for 3 - 4 months as we speak. Only noticed the problem when it had a little
drive this morn. I'll have to arrange MNR to pick it up whilst I'm away. But knowing what the problem could be is a little better for me.
It hope it's not an expensive problem as the bugger has cost me a fortune so far!!

I had a few false nuetrals recently when using my Proshift kit, I extended the cut time a tiny amount and it seemed to sort it out. Not sure if that
was the reason or if I just wasn't putting enough force on the gear lever at the time.

i've had exactly the same issue on track with my expert kit, will be accelerating up the straight and then suddently max rpm, no drive and a big
panic! I will check the actuator travel on my next outing, its been bugging me what the problems might be.
Anyone else had any trouble with the downshift too? thats never worked properly either (i'm sure it just a setup isse)

If u find out what's causing it mate let me know and I'll let mnr know when I take it down in summer to get fixed.
