Velocity XT, do I need a gear lever extension ?

I am just wondering if I need a gearlever extension on my velocity xt fitted with a type 9 box ?

I am 5'6" tall (or short) if that makes any difference ? I know im going to have my seat quite a way forwards so that I can reach the steering wheel !

What is the general consensus ?

Cheers - Andy

When I got my XT I found the cut-down gear stick fouled the dashboard and was a bit of a fiddle. I got an extension and things are much improved.

I needed an extension in my Luego which has basically the same chassis as yours ended up making one following the advice from David Jenkins ,a few bits of steel from my scrap bin and a little bit of time , the only part I brought was the little plastic saddle for the selector.

Cheers guys, looks like a lunchtime project on the lathe at work then, as soon as my job calms down a little.
