Fuel pipe fittings question, bmw push fit fittings...

Hi all,

I've got the fuel pipe and fuel pressure regulator, that goes with the BMW M3 throttle bodies.
The problem is, it's got a total length of about 4 feet, which is about twice what I need.
It's made up of half stainless hard pipe,that has the fitting on the end to clip in the fuel rail, and half braided flexible pipe, that goes to the regulator.

What I'd like to do, is cut the hard pipe down to just a couple of inches long, but it has a swaged end that clips into the push fit fitting on the end of the flex pipe.

So has anyone got any ideas how to get round this problem?

The ideas I have got so far are...

1, is there anywhere that can cut and swage the end of the hard pipe so it will clip back into the flex pipe.

2, cut the hard pipe, and join the 2 ends together with a compression fitting.

3, cut the fuel rail end off the hard pipe, and cut the fitting of the end off the flex pipe, and have the hard pipe end swaged/fitted into the end of the flex.

Has anyone got any other ideas?

I'd just buy some more fuel hose and some nice finishers and sell at them bits apart from the regulator

Trouble is, the hard pipe has a special fitting that clips into the fuel rail, and the regulator has a push fit fitting to connect to the hose.
So I need to keep each end...
...basically, I need the push fit end for the regulator, and the fuel rail fitting on the end of the flex pipe, and just get rid of the rest of the hard pipe.

If I was doing the job I think I would cut and shut the hard pipe rather than doing it any other way but make sure you flush it out before using.I've no idea where you could get a sewage like that done unless a hydraulic specialist could help but even then I think they would suggest a new pipe?

So long as it is straight it shouldn't be the end of the world for someone with a lathe to turn up an adapter.

I think you've got the wrong pipe fitted to the regulator. Take a look at this:

I may have some odd pipes etc off the fuel rail lying around in the garage, let me know if you need some. Is this to go on an M3 or are you using the throttle bodies on something else?

The throttle bodies are off an E46 M3, not an E36, so the pipes are different.

They are going on my 1982 Mercedes 280e track car.
