Boring cost?

How much does engine work cost? As in a rebore, deck skim, head skim etc. Maybe crank regrind??

Supposing I supply the new pistons is it worth getting the bore measured and speak to the machine shop to find out what oversize is required?

Plan is a set of low comp wossner forged pistons in a zetec.

Depends who does it, your local "engine re conditioner" will be cheap but precision will likely not be top of his list. On the other hand a proper "engine builder" will be more expensive but should hopefully know the answer to how big does it need to be bored for a low compression piston. Our Duratec is being built by an old school engine builder in these parts and as part of the re-bore process the centre of a couple of the bores was moved fractionally as by his standards they were out of true. The other way is to find a good local machine shop but they will probably want you to supply the exact finished size and any other info they need. Don't think I've helped much reading that lot :-)
To get an idea of what it will cost to have it done to a very high standard give Alan at Scholar engines a call and then work down from there.

Reckon on about £80-100 for a 4 pot rebore and £30-40 for a head skim / block decking.
Not sure on crank regrind but tbh you're much better off finding a good std crank and leaving well alone, apart from a balance of couse. I can recommend a place in Sheffield for that too.
I'd recommend these guys - http://www.stanwoodengineering.co.uk/ . They're in Yorksire, just.
Johnny really knows his stuff and build Zetecs for his own single seater race car.

Forged pistons and cast Pistons of exactly the same size need different clearance tolerance piston to bore
So any new piston install will need a rebore to the correct clearance
Rings will be new and must be gapped correctly
I have re ringed a newish rebore and pistons but deglazed the bores and measured everything
