Bonnet temp - paint damage?
My bonnet is painted in cellulose paint, and sits very close to the top of the engine. Theres a cut out for throttle bodies and exhaust but
that's it, no vents. Would the heat off the engine affect the paint? If I covered the underside of the bonnet in heat reflective material, would
that increase engine temps substantially? Would I be better adding louvres or something in the bonnet?

i wrapped mine in blue vinyl (which i think is more delicate than ordinary paint) and its holding on ok. exhaust manifold wrap is a must though. it
also has louvres and a scoop on the bonnet to aid cooling.

Mine has bubbled but I think thats because I had to do some repairs to the gel coat. It looks like it's the filler that can't take the
heat rather than the paint. I'm in the process of building a former to make an ally bonnet for my Haynes.

I have an ally bonnet at the moment, I have noticed that the paint is much weaker on the GRP, I'm just wondering whether it would bubble on the
aluminium too
