As above, i'm after a short stem dizzy for my x-flow (to get underneath my twin 40s),

Getting tired of waiting for Holden to get some in stock and want to get the car running before X-mas.

Many Thanks Dan.

have you tried Burton Power?

They probably won't be cheap, but will almost certainly be able to help.

Never done it myself but I read the Bosch electronic dizzy off a MK4 1300 valencia engined escort will go on a crossflow. Don't know if that will go under the 40's but it might with a side entry cap for the plug leads.

It's physically the same size as the old-style point dizzy, so it should be fine with the side-entry cap.

I used one of these dizzy's (with a normal cap) on my x-flow - works really well. Don't forget that you'll need a different coil as well (e.g. the one of the Mk4 Escort) and no ballast resistor. Oh - and get the wiring plug at the same time as getting the dizzy!

Have you tried Vulcan Engineering (Vulcanengines.com ) or Aldon Automotive (aldonauto.co.uk)? They do a Lucas D43 to suit X-Flows with different specs eg twin 40s without vac advance or GT 32/36; std cam, Kent 234 etc. There are also upgrades to electronic ign.
My 1700 setup with a side entry cap fits under a pretty straight manifold. The Bosch-Ford hybrid that I cobbled together was a tight fit even with a Fiat Strada 85 side entry cap (which didn't fit very precisely).
The motor ran much more sweetly with the advance curve of the Aldon unit as well.
They advertise exchanges, but sold to me outright and off the shelf.

PS your image is very true to life. Been there - worn the hawtorn hedge.

Cheers Gents,

I've tried the valencia dizzy with a side entry cap and the accelerator pump pull rod on the underside of my dellortos catches the top of the cap.

BMF the dizzy on Ebayhas the same length shaft as the valencia one but thanks the same.

Looks like i'm spending some pennies than first thought.

All the best Dan.

Have you considered using a DIS system and doing away with the dizzy altogether? The Escort mk5 ESC system is the easiest way - just need to fit a CPS and bodge an air temp sensor into the air box.

Cheap enough from a scrappy too!

Would it not be possible to swap to a higher rise intake manifold?

Dave A. Had the high rise manifold and the carb tops stuck out f the bonnet.

The other Dave, do you have any other details, such as who you ordered it from and what else is needed?

Many thanks again gents Dan.

Doh! I half remembered about that but couldn't be bothered checking before I posted!

There's a good thread on megajolt in the engine section at the moment.. not that I know anything about it, but it does sound tempting.
