Oil Cooling

I run a 1.8 Silvertop zetec, 2.0 cams, GSXR TB's lump

The oil filter is fitted remotely on a mocal housing with temp sender.

During normal road running im seeing temps up to about 110 deg C which I belive to be too much?

Pressures are between 40 - 70psi when warm and up to 85ish on cold start.

Do you think i have an issue with the gauge or should I be looking at an oil cooler?

Sounds higher than expected. Water temp ok?
Maybe worth checking the temp by another means (or check the gauge/sender you have is accurate)

Normal guide is within my + or - 10 to 15c of the coolant temp.

Synthetic oils can operate at much higher temperatures than mineral oils without breaking down.

Sounds high a reading if it's just road running and the water temp is OK. Ragging it on track in summer it wouldn't supprise me but on the road I'd suspect the reading is wrong.

What does it say before you start it from cold? Is it reading roughly ambiant temp?

Yeah thats reacting as expected.

I may need to invest in a new guage then, or do some testing with the current one.

I needed to change my oil temp sensor a year or so back as it was over reading by 20deg. No other signs it had gone wonky. Only that i had spent a fortune on new oil rad, take offs, water rad and there was nothing else to change!!

I'd reckon gauge. My standard 2.0 silvertop has never had oil temperature issues. When driven hard on track it will hit 100℃ and that's it. I have the sensor fitted to the sump to avoid heat soak issues from the block.
