What oil for Ford type 3 gearbox

Hi all,
I'm looking for info on Ford type 3 gearboxes. I have one in my Locost racer and after a few shifting problems running fully synthetic 75w-90 for the last year I looking to find out what oil was originally recommended for it. Burton's suggest SAE 80 but have found no other mentions in any workshop manual (I've bought pretty much all the Haynes manuals that the gearbox could have been in but none mention the type 3!).

If anyone also knows of a service manual that includes this gearbox please let me know.

Thanks, Graham

Hi.
EP 80 / 90.
Using fully synthetic is whats causing your problems.

Ford 2000E, probably almost the same as Mk2 Cortina. I've got a genuine Ford manual for Cortina2 somewhere
