Honda Civic VTEC engine - in a Locost?
Hi
Anyone put a Honda Civic VTEC engine into a Locost? Not a rwd Honda S2000 engine and gearbox.
If so, how as I understand they run in the opposite direction to normal car engines so not sure what rwd gearbox and differential would work.
Cheers
Mike

Was a Westfield built/part built with one in,iirc bell housing came from Australia for it.
Think that was the hardest part to find.

The Bunn/hodder Westfield runs a k20 with forced induction. It's rapid!

Doug Bennett has a k23 (tall block k20) with supercharger in his sports libre Striker, i dont know what gearbox he's running but it sounds
sequential, straight cut (and expensive).
If you're looking for a cheaper option, an rx8 box and an adaptor plate looks like a good solution.
honda VTEC K20 To rx8 gearbox conversion plate CNC LASER CUT RWD Ford Rally
The rx8 ratios are a bit short on 1st, but the rest are ok, a long diff ratio may make 1st useable but would leave 5/6th as cruising gears.
The other option is to butcher the bellhousing portion from a civic fwd gearbox and make an adaptor plate to mate with a type 9, either bolted on or
welded.
This could be cheaper if you've the engineering gear, if your paying someone else it's probably uneconomical.
