Steering rack extensions - bespoke?

Hi everyone,

I am currently building a reverse trike. I am using a Mk2 Punto steering rack.

I need extensions from this to Ford (Sierra) Track Rod Ends.

Without measuring I don't know the length (around 130mm at a guess)

Does anyone know where I could get these parts made? (The threads are not the same )

Thanks
Dan

Anyone with a lathe, some round steel bar and the right threading tools should be able to make these for you.

Gives you good cause to find and defriend a local engineering firm and have a pair made. Pretty certain both the Punto rack and Sierra rod ends are metric threads as well.

Damned typo's - "BE-friend"

I found one local to me who helped out with metals and the odd bit of machining during my kit build. As longs as I filled their biscuit barrel when I asked for stuff they were happy. Once the car was on the road I had to take it there and let them all have a look as well - not really an issue

Personally I think you were right the first time. You know what they say, "A friend in need is a pain in the bum."

As a long standing lender of tools to a rather tight arsed brother-in-law I often share the same thought!
