Bentley Speed 8 Replica

Anyone else spotted:

https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2020-12-12/cars/ref-175-2003-bentley-speed-8-grp-replica-sb/

for sale by auction tomorrow, 12th December, no reserve. Too busy with my current project to consider, otherwise I'd be looking more carefully at this

No mechanicals? So it's literally a shell?

I agree though, it would be an interesting project to put that on some worthwhile base.

There's a similar bodyshell at lot 320.

Cool find! Maybe pushing it a bit for road use though:

wheelbase 2735 mm / 107.7 in
length 4645 mm / 182.9 in
width 1990 mm / 78.3 in

That's a BIG car! But as a trackday weapon on a bespoke chassis it'd be very, very cool indeed.

Sold - £126,480
plus 20% buyers premium, (they also take a fee from the seller, - I do wonder how they can make a living out of this game :-( )

An eye watering amount 😂 . I imagine it was bought by a collector who probably never drives cars in the collection so it makes no difference that it's got no mechanicals. There were some nice cars in the auction, I rather fancied the Alfa which sold for a mere £33k

There is a very good Bentley replica that was produced in eastern europe. Looks identical to this and about 5% of the price. There is one for sale on Race cars direct at the moment .... I was going to supply an engine for it but it looks like the builder has given up.

I have spent the day rubbing down my own car's bodywork in preparation for a mould.... do you think as it is a LMP clone with a few stickers I could sell a few for over £100k?
