Any Gas Safe engineers on here?

Afternoon All.

Is there any Gas Safe engineers on here?

I have a question regarding the gas feed to a gas hob.

My old unit was a stand alone range cooker with electric oven and gas hob. It was connected to the gas supply via a flexible black pipe and bayonet fitting

Am I right in saying that any new installs need to be hard lined? Is that still the case if the manufacturer states the use of flexible metal pipes is ok?

The questions I have are

What sort of temperature does the outside of the builtin oven get at the rear and above?

What does the flexible metal pipe look like? Is this it?

flexi?

This is what was originally there

Gas pipe

Free standing ovens will always need a flexible hose. Built in hobs always get plumbed in proper copper. No idea why though! I work with gas fitters quite often, as I fit kitchens, but that's just what I've seen.

Manufacturer instructions take precedence over general regulations, so if the manufacturer leaflet says that flexible hose is okay, it is.
