Ford KA

I’m trying to sort out a few issues on a 55 plate KA, wiper switch is on the rh stalk, press the end and wipe wash goes but it looks like it should turn to switch on wipers but seems solid or jammed. Anyone with experience of one of these cars. Also hatch won’t open with key but occasionally works when you press the button on the dash, doesn’t appear to be a manual release in the boot.
Thanks

If the car hasn't got central locking (manually unlock doors from inside) it may not have an innner boot release.

The stalk sounds worn out.

Boot not opening on the key (assuming you mean manually) sounds like a knackered mechanism.

I had a 54 Ka and I’m fairly sure there was a boot release, behind a panel you had to remove to get to the rear light clusters. I could be wrong though…

Thanks for admitting you’ve had one, managed to get tailgate trim panel off and by fiddling with the solenoid can open the boot. I think there could be a break in the wires at the hinge. Heater is permanently on too, it’s actually not too bad to drive though!

I really enjoyed mine, I can't remember exactly when I sold it but had it over 10 years / 100k miles. Great for tearing around the countryside , obviously underpowered but more go-kart like than much else you can readily get your hands on these days.

I'm hoping to get into road/targa rallying with my son later this year, and hoping I can get us a Mk1 Ka for that
