Fuel checks
Hi guys,
Still having issues with my car running.
It’s misfiring and feeling like it’s only running on 3 cyls.
It’s a 2.0 blacktop running on standard ECU.
I’ve replaced ignition (coil, leads, plugs), check and cleaned injectors, filters and fuel lines.
Ive got a standard FPR (7988f-9c968) which I’ve just replaced.
LP fuel pump feeding the swirl pot and then HP pump is an Osias pump with the below specs.
Flow rate - 135ltr/hr @ 3bar (35 gal/hr @ 45 psi)
Max pressure - 8.5bar (125 psi)
Does that look ok for the zetec?
Thanks
Andy

Do a cylinder leakage test, way better than a compression test , I once had a silver top Zetec with a misfire that showed good compressions but a
leakage test showed a leaking inlet valve. Check the valve clearances , black tops use different size cam followers to adjust clearances .if you have
any that are tight it can cause problems . Can you identify which cylinder has the misfire? Try swapping the plug for one in a good cylinder, change
that lead and maybe swap the injector for one from a good cylinder. Modern plugs don’t like getting wet so they can misfire even if new. What make
spark plugs?

Thanks for the reply, I’ve been back out in the garage and actually think I may have found the issue - one of the injectors is allowing air/liquid
through without it being activated, so looks like a faulty solenoid…
I’ll have to get another injector ordered and hopefully sorts the problem.
Cheers
