A gazebo, type of thing at our flying field
Hi Guys, and Girls,
Im back, because of the help ive given, and had over the many years on this site, but i need your help........
RC flying site, and im the Treasurer, we have had gazebos in our field, infact two were mine, and due to a few total numpties, in the club, over the
last three years they have broken to the extent of frames looking like a deranged tv Ariel !! all three of them,
I am looking for/at a replacement system, to keep the sun off our bonces
The sun, is at his point in July, is 90% to our right, and as the day goes on, goes behind us
The problems are, we have sheep, and alpacas in the field, so no permanent fixtures, that the sheep, could destroy
However we can, utilize a side fencing area, adjacent to the next field
What i am looking at is a Two post (along the fence line) type of system, that will incorperate a tarpaulin type of cover, that perhaps upto 15?? guys
could sit under

If i've understood correctly, you want something like a football dugout with just two posts behind those seated, one at the start and one at the
end to hold up the roof. Which will cover 15 people. Assuming each person when seated takes 0.75m to be comfortable in a folding camp chair
you're looking at a run of approx 11m for just two posts to support. This seems like a lot.
Quick google got this which doesn't quite fit the bill being translucent and with the intermediary posts but is it close to what you're
thinking if it had a shade generating cover?

Were they decent gazebos? ie 40+mm alloy not cheap 25mm steel ones from Argos or the Range?

Would a more permanent structure not be better if the animals are likely to damage something weaker?
Something like a bus/smoking shelter?

Something made from 100x100 wooden posts would be pretty much impervious to sheeperoos. You'd just need to dig and postcrete them in. Keep away
from fabric stuff, unless you're going to pack it away each time, it'll die in a year or two.

Hi all
The Gazebos, were box section 25mm jobs, but when we are dealing with 80 yr old idiots, and at one point, one had the gazebo upside down, with their
feet trying to collapse the frame ????????????? the idiot even sent a pic on wats app, doing this
I have come to the conclusion, as a couple of others have, we take the gazebo with us (PITA) put it up for OUR convenience, and when we go home, so
does the gazebo (PITA)
We do have the Farms permission, to basicly do, what ever we want, and in an ideal world, we would have a proper building, and awning arrangement, but
club finances will not cover that!!
We could increase subs, as we are cheap at £45 a year, A couple of members are in their 50's and most are 60-70, then a 40% are over 80!
RC flying, is a dying hobby, as Kids are not interested, so what ever we do, is for the remaining US,

Hi
Pub Garden tables (same thing but cheaper than a 'picnic table'!) a timber garden store/tiny shed (small as you like really) and umbrellas
for the tables (hence the small store..) keeps it simple, nothings permanent, and the umbrellas won't be up when you're not there so should
last years.

3 decent wooden fence posts with a boat sail between them.
My neighbour does this in the summer.
Assign a couple of regular club members to put up / take down the sail and leave the fence posts in the ground.
The livestock / farmer shouldn't mind the fence posts (use 2 in the exiting fence line).
The sail rolls / folds up easy enough into a members car boot.
Job done.
Cheap / quick / simple
Minimum chance for getting it wrong and / or breakage!

How about a simple wood post/frame with some polycarb on top?
3No 2700x100x100 fence posts, with some concrete founds.
a few lenghts of 4.8m 95x45 treated CLS for roof and gallows brackets.
3 sheets of 2x1.1 multiwall polycarb
Prices up about £350 for a 2.8m run, so you could just add to it if you wanted more space. Could be inside or outside the existing fencing.

Thanks guys
We have currently come up with a plan, that will bugger up the Gazebo wreckers, as in either i, or the secretary, will take the gazebo home, thus
meaning the pondlifes can not wreck it!!

Defo worth investing in a decent one, I have 2x Gazeboshop.co.uk 40mm aluminium ones (smallest of the alloy ones) and I cant see how anyone could even
accidently get it wrong. I've put up and down myself on a windy paddock with no issues. I got mine used but as new so saved loads so worth
keeping an eye out on ebay/FB marketplace/gumtree etc.

Yes, kids do, but if you can show me a kid, that wants to conform, and pay a club for them to be able to fly safely and legally
