I have a reg number, but it's odd

DVLA have done a brilliant job and sorted my registration in just under two weeks. It would have been half that time if Royal Mail hadn't dragged their heels with one piece of correspondence...but that's a side issue.

I have my age related plate and I'm a little confused. My donor was a 1992 K plate, K268 KNU. My age related plate is AAA 999K (numbers and letters redacted). From memory this means that my K plate isn't for 1992, it's actually for 1971.

That doesn't bother me, an older plate actually suits the car (if an observer is geeky enough to recognise the difference between prefix and suffix plates). I'm not going to query it, it really makes no odds considering the date of first registration is still May 2026. I just wondered whether anyone else has had a similar allocation?

Seems strange, but querying it may keep you of the road for longer.

G (prefix) reg Sierra donor and G (prefix) age related plate for my MK Indy.
Thought no more or less of it at the time, just plated up and got on the road.

Yeah I'm done questioning things that seem 'unusual', time to just accept the decision and enjoy the car!

If nothing else I'd have to pay an insurance admin fee if it got changed.

That's definitely a mistake, I assume an office junior who didn't understand the principles of suffix/prefix.

Have you taxed the car as the number is not recognised on the tax information

That's not the real number... it does show up as taxed and awaiting it's first MOT (in three years time)

Looks like a DVLA feck up. If it doesnt bother you I'd do nothing.

I was trying to think if there was any negative, but essentially it's like a free personalised plate. It doesn't do anything to the car itself. So yeah, I'll stay with it.

not quite a personalized plate, as can't be transferred.
but does seem suitable for the car

I agree, just keep it, (and the associated paperwork)

Yeah I'm still waiting for that to arrive. Despite the DVLA doing a great job and emailing me the details, I'm still at the mercy of Royal Mail to get the bits of paper I need to get the plates made up. Granted it's been a bank holiday weekend, but I'm not expecting it to arrive anytime this week.
