Clutch Master Repair Kit Needed?
Hi,
Looking for some advice please.
I was planning to get a repair kit for my clutch master in my J15 which is a Wilwood integral resovoir type.
Reason was that I thought it was leaking and the fluid in the resovoir looks discoloured (darker).
After checking it over I think the leaking may have been because the resovoir cap wasnt fully done up.
I did it up tight and took it for a spin and cant see any new fluid.
Only thing I do notice is it makes an unhealthy creaking noise. There's no noticable difference in its operation.
So my question is would dirty fluid and noise be reasons to use a repair kit?
The car was built 7 years ago and has only done about 2.5k miles.

Was the master cylinder new when the car was built or from a donor car ?
If all was new at build then a fluid refresh could be in order.

For the creaking noise - have you checked everything is securely fitted, master cylinder, pedal, push-rod etc.

I know the pushrod is Ok beause I recently adjusted it as it didn't have enough play. I'll check the master itself though.

A creaking noise is unlikely to be because of the fluid. Its far more likely to be mechanical; the pedal pivots, linkage or mounts. If there was any
side with the seals you'd (normally) get a sinking pedal and/or fluid leaking from the input rod/boot.
Fluid change should be fine every couple of years and the darkening of the fluid is a direct result of moisture levels in it.
