Zetec Black Or Silver Top

Guys. Ive been offered a Zetec Engine a bit cheap. I've been told its a 94 reg 2L but been told its a black top.

Is there such a thing as 94 black top. I thought all black tops are late models 1998>.

april 98 should be the first of the black tops ....94's deffo should be a silver top Ive had a couple.......Ps I wouldnt say no if you dont want it....and being the black top you will have to run a cat/injection ect unless anybody Knows better?????
