Zetec altenator wiring
Hi guys,
How do I wire up my zetec altenator? The altenator has 3 connectors, B, D and one with no marking.
I suspect that the "B" connects to the battery, but where do I connect the "D" and the "no name"??
Cheers

Hello Micael,
B+ goes to battery+ or starter+, your choice.
D+ goes to ignition warning lamp in the dash.
Thats normally all you need, grounding goes through alternator housing to engine block, which needs a ground to the frame.

Thanks for the reply,
I done so and it seems to work. The ignition light goes out as soon as the engine starts and the battery is charged.
But, when i switch off the ignition the engine runs for about 2-3 secs before it stops. I use an standard Ford Escort ECU and altenator (-95 Zetec).
I starting to suspect that i have "back current" some where. It might be from the altenator.
This is my teory:
When I switch the ignition off, the rurrent form the altenator passes throu the ignition lamp and in to the fusebox and "connects" the ECU
relay but not the fluel relay.
Therefore the engine runs as long as it is pressure in the fuel hose.
Is this a possible senario?? If so what should I do to prevent it?

put a diode on the coil of the ecu relay so it cant be " reverse Powered up"
If I can find it I had ecu schmatics and a wiring diagram for fitting injection to a mk ii fiesta
Scot's do it better in Kilts.
