Organised Runs - beware

It seems that the public don't like swarms of noisy little cars driving around and having fun.
I don't know the exact details, but the guys in this pic have just had their day cut short by the roadblock which had been set up specifically for them this afternoon.
This all happened in that well known hotbed of crime.

Rural Aberdeenshire...

Be careful - and don't gather in large groups. There are people that would rather you would please stop having fun.

disgraceful...

surely there is no legal basis for this? i would recommend someone finding the details of the rally, the road they were stopped on, and the address of the regional police HQ. Then maybe we can all stand up and complain.

That's a bit of a shame.

They want to come and watch the Pioneer Run (London - Brighton Veteran Bikes).

Reckon on a hundred and fifty competitors, and several thousand loonies going through some of the small villages - where quite a few brainless morons park on both sides of road, turning an A road to single track.

We had the Paddock Wood 1/2 Marathon today and it took me 30 mins to get less then 600 yards (via a 5 mile route)

One PC suggested I park and walk - yeah I'm doing my patio and have 1/2 dozen slabs in the boot.

I'll suggest they run the event from midnight on next year.

The CJ act

Quote

Under the C J act, the authorities have the power to declare any gathering of 6 or more people as illegal, if they should so desire, and can then start making arrests.
And I thought I left C**** laws like that behind in Aparthied South Africa.

i think i was told recently by my wife that as part of her uni studies the existence of a law was discussed forbidding summat like 3 or more vehicles in convoy. This was supposedly brought in to deal with new age travellers.........

looking from the other side, do convoys of locosts and lotus drive down country roads at legal speeds, or are they perhaps overcooking it a bit thro villages every sunday morning........

I cant see any other reason why police would make that kinda effort......

If they are all travelling at the legal limit, there isn't a judge in the country who wouldn't tell the BIB where to go.

its somewhere in the road traffic laws that you can't have an organised route to be used by more than 12 cars without permission from the governement, police etc.

Thats why local motorclubs are limited to 12 cars on 12 car rallies.

You only need 3 cars, one in each lane, to stop other cars breaking the speed limit.

Can you be arrested for being one of 13 or more seperate individuals that all happen to be driving the same car allong the same road at the same time, even if its just a fluke coincidence.

"Wasnt there, but it was the Scottish Elises having a sunday run.

Apparantly there were 3 public complaints and that was enough for a roadblock, they then fully scrutinised every car, and then issued producers to them all, and also gave tickets for illegal number plates and poxy stuff like that.

Some very unhappy chaps, apparantly they were held there for hours"

from a mate at work who has an Elise and luckily didn't go.

See the black fence on the left? Balmoral Castle is the other side, so maybe a royal complaint? Lovely road though, have passed the queen tootling along in a range rover once, though still to see Charlie in an Aston.

BTW should you wish to drop him a line the man is...

Yep but hardly rural there are villages every 5 or six miles along the way here with limits of 40mph and 50 mph very common. A line of cars like this traveling at the limit could never be overtaken by someone wishing to break the law by speeding. Perhaps some of the royals needed to be somewhere fast ehand all us plebs and serfs were holding them up. I hope the local underworld ain't seen this as they all be out robbing this weekend while the bib are back on shift doing shed loads of paper work on last weeks road block.

The first thing police learn when there is a rally etc. going on is to talk to the driver for half an hour. Which nastily puts them right out of the competion (or at lest any chance doing well in the event).

Why do they pester the real enthusiasts when they could catch a load of right tossers (probably mostly criminals too) bygoing to about any town centre (Dartford is a good example) after dark where all the tw*ts in Nova's/Corsa's or similar race around making a row and generaly act like wankers with their sh*t music and strobes under their cars!
