My donor is a Q Plate !!

My Donor is a Q plate !! (appearing on the next episode of Trisha)

How do I stand with this...

My donor car is a 1969 Cortin Mk2 1600E.
Some years ago it was taken off the road and rebuilt and received a Q plate.
Will I get an age related plate, a Q plate, or something else?

I'm using Engine, Gearbox, Prop and Axle.

The registration mark is irrelevant.
The only thing important is the age of the donor and as long as you have relevant proof of age you should be ok.

I'd tend agree more with Bull here. If you can prove the age of the donor and use enough of it, you get an age related plate - reg plate of the donor doesn't matter.

But what does it say on the log book (V5) of the donor under date of first registration? Is it the date the car was originally registered, or the date it was rebuilt and became a Q? This is the date they will look at to determine the age of the car (I think) - so if it was rebuilt in, say, 1998 and that's the date on the log book, they might consider it as a 98 car (even though it's a Cortina??).

Or they might take the line that since a Q-plate means the car is of undeterminable origin, then so are your donor parts and therefore your Locost gets a Q.

Dunno really, best to speak to your local VRO. Report back here cos I'd be interested to know too.

Cheers,

Liam
