1.1 crossflow

I'm presently stripping a 1.1 Escort for probable use in Locost. It seems in surprisingly good condition. Anyone got any views/experience of one in book chassis? Also any cheapish tunes to get around 60 bhp+ whilst still keeping it tractable for road use.

Could work but try would try to sell it and buy a 1300 or even 1600. Neither very much money at all.

That's the reply I was expecting Andy. I don't doubt you're right it's just that I've already started on it plus rapidly going over budget so as Magnus Magnesium said, "I've started so I'll finish." What about 1.4 Fiesta will this fit 5 speed Sierra gearbox?

If you keep your eye out, you may seen 1.3s or even 1.6s going for absolute peanuts (take it away, please!)

1.1/1.3 X flow

Dear Skodaman,
I might seem cheeky, but I've a 1300 X-flow from my Stuart Taylor that I upgraded later, and would like to get out of my garage. The car went very well, drove nicely and was completely without vices, as you would expect with what was essentially a stock 1300GT spec 65-70 ish HP Ford motor. The fifth gear on the type 9 box I was using was quite tall
Complete unit, runs fine, nice and clean, alloy rockerbox £40.
GT spec twin choke Weber c/w manifold and ITG filter £20.
Original equipment Ford 4-2-1 ex manifold as removed from 1300GT escort £5.
Clean 4 speed box including new clutch plate, not used by me £10.
RS2000 one piece prop £10.

I also have another DIY x-flow bottom end 'Kit' that I was about to assemble.
1300 Block rebored with new pistons.
New crank with new mains, b/ends and thrust washers.
Set of rods to suit.
£150 all in.
I'm In Preston and could deliver, up the A6 etc.
I've a spare set of Weber 40DCOEs, manifold and foam filter, but thats probably gilding the lily

A 1.4 cvh with distributer iginition is a very easy fit, but a MK3/EscortOrion 1.6 CVH with 2v weber is just as essy and has more power.

Hmm! Just as I'd decided on a 1.3 cross-flow. Why are decisions for these things so difficult?
