volvo
A question probablyfor Volvosport.... so what about volvo engines? weight, say in comparison to XFlow, are cast block, 4v, what are the best
options/availability/cost/bhp? I know thats a lot of questions and the answers are probably a page or two long, but some basic info would be very
useful, or a link!
Thanks!

2.3 redblock is the same as a pinto .
the 5 cyl alloy whiteblock is about the same weight , and the 6 a bit heavier , the 4cyl whiteblock is lighter than the 5cyl , obviously .
opinions divide on 8v-16v for the 4 cyl - some 8v engines - with 2.5 penta crank make over 600 hp(ooh guess what ive got in the cupboard) . thats a
well modified head tho .
the 16v customer engine im building , now weve decided that route , is a basic head with no modifications and std cams , with reprofiled seats/valves
at 2 bar Boost will be around 475/525 hp, with obviously more potential with cams and a worked head .
youll need uprated rods for over 400 hp on the redblock , std pistons would be ok at this power level , but you should really have forged venolias.
the whiteblock series need uprated rods for any work over 20 psi -
this is just a summation really , youve got to figure in transmission aswell which for anything over 300 hp , you might be looking at getrag etc - the
manual gearbox version of the whiteblock can take the power - but are rare - it does mean tho you can choose between 4/5/6 cyl .

No, just the M90 box.
Adapters are available tho, for whiteblock to redblock-boxes, BMW and Chevrolet 350 auto.
Costs about 215 euros.
Have a look at http://www.klracing.se/adapterplatta.htm (swedish only)
