thats been up before, but what a timely reminder! Ive downloaded the free cad software, im going to make something, and order it! I always liked lumps of metal with stuff drilled and cut in it, what fun! I'll keep the thread posted.

software seems pretty crap so far, ive tried for 2 days to make a part and the software just kicks up unreasonable problems. You can view the part fine, but when i requested a price it said lines were outside the boundary. Obviously this would be avoided if i was more familiar with the software, but as it stands its just bloody annoying.

Don't suppose anyone can recommend another piece of software with which to draw simple parts, like brackets etc...? Just simple shapes and ability to scale to lengths/diameters you assign. Oh yeah, and free!

Someone recommended Sketchup, but I think this is commerical.

I actually use their software to design brackets then print it out and use it as a reference for my sizing.. it prints a perfect 1:1: ratio!

Prices are a ripp off IMO

Prices seem quite pricey when you include delivery over here. But quite fun for messing about with.

How about a screen dump joel so we can see this part.
