hello, from america :)

hey i live in the US and I'm looking to build a locost. problem is no sites (except tigerracing.com) sell kits here that I know of(if you know of any give me a link). Most of those kits are like 6-7k USD or like 3500GBP...is this the usual cost to build them(I don't think this includes the power plant)? I have some pretty good automotive knowledge and I know I could put a kit together I dont think' I have the knowledge to build a custom frame and such. Does anyone have any ideas for me. (also the steering wheel would have to be on the other side of the car.

Hi there,
There are a couple of suppliers here in the US.
Coveland motorsports regularly have frames for sale on ebay and are reasonably priced:
http://www.coveland.com/motorsports/

Demon motorsports (canada), bit more pricey:
http://www.deman-motorsport.com/index.htm#

Another canadian one:
http://www.canadianlocost.com/Progress%20Kits.htm

I also know of someone who may be interested in selling a CMC kit - it's the same as the one I'm building - email me if you want his contact details. CMC were a company which closed last year, but still kits out there.

MC_jr,

Good luck with finding any US locost kit manufacturers. Those available in the US are mostly turn-key.

www.Championmotorcars.com may be a viable option for you, however, at this time the web-site is down.. that could spell bad news. They provide kits and/or turnkey solutions.

try http://www.deman-motorsport.com/. they're in Ontario, Canada and have (LH or RH) kits. This is the best option available.

6-7K (USD) for a kit definitely doesn't include an engine; probably a rolling-chassis and bodywork.

I myself might offer kits to the US market in a year or so..

The Stalker V6 is based on the Chevy S-10. It's very highly regarded and price is reasonable:

Here are a couple of US forums in case you haven't heard about them yet:

i had the link to deman and I lost it I was calling everywhere to get it, thanks guys. The rolling chassis is that basically everything I need except the engine and tranny? how much do you think it that runs? also is that price in CND instead of USD. One more thing..The Stalker, they don't have the price on the site. The reason I want to build these is me and my friends we're looking at them and want to build them and sell...not like a business just for fun and make a extra hundred dollars or so.
