Yep pretty much any type of AGP card. Assuming its not more than about 4 years old when AGP2x was still around, a lot of newer cards wont work on less than 4x.

Just thought I would point that out...

Have a look through the manual that came with the main board, or if you haven't got it have a look for mainboard type and model number marked on the board itself and google it, hopefully you should find a spec sheet or something.

I have a Nvidia Geforce 2 AGP if it's of use for a drink. U2U me

Cheers

Rich

Download Sandra,
http://www.sisoftware.net/
This will tell you what motherboard you've got, its agp capeability and benchmark it so you can see what you've gained for all your efforts when you've got the new card in.

ReMan, had a look at the site, powerfull stuff, but i think the sandra stuff will be more than the graphics card it would be used to proscribe ???

Jason

I use Everest home edition, which is also free and tells you what is inside the computer. If your motherboard is the newer type you need a 1.5v card or you may permanently damage the board, check it carefully.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Its a 4x. Which means prett much any new AGP card will be ok.

What are you looking for? Gaming or just internet etc?

David

I have a 256Mb Geforce FX5500 in mine. They are only about £30 now, and will run any old games. i am getting a new card soon, but can guarantee when, otherwise I would offer you mine.

Nothing hugely powerful...

To play the sims you wont need anything hugely powerful, altho alot of pretty fast cards have dropped in price recently, i would reccomend checking the current prices of the Ati Radeon 9600 pro, or the Nvidia GeForce 5900xt, both 128mb and should both come in at around 50 to 60 quid.
