Top Lads but a little bit off there tits

NO acount needed and they have all the locost steel needed.

I even get some bits as ofcuts .

Big engineering works ,so do all shot blasting powdercoating aswell. Also BOC agents ect.

price a few weeks ago was 69p/m 19mm rhs and £1.29/m 25mm rhs. + vat.

it comes in 6m lenghts ,they will cut it down. The guy in the stores you want is Martin (I think).

Craven & Nicholas ltd
st johns rd,boston (on side of the docks) number is 01205 364004.

regards warren

I'm about ready to order my steel too. I'm in sheffield and there's about 30 places listed in the 'Steel stockholders' section of the yellow pages! Don't know where to start.

Before I start phoning round them all, do people usually get their steel delivered or will I need to collect armed with a hacksaw?

I like the look of that www.shop4steel.co.uk no messing about delivered to your door, but I can only find 2.5mm wall thickness tubing. Is that the thinest they do or am I just not looking hard enough?

I saw another site similar to that but they only delivered in the south east

Thanks! Dave.

I've never used Egglestones but it's very near where I get my gas from. I buy from Twiggs metals in Matlock or Hamer Goodlad in Eckington quite a bit.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I ordered my metal today!
I used parker steel ( http://www.parkersteel.co.uk/ )
The main tubing and a 25mm x 3mm bar. No sheet (I can get offcuts off my school and am gonna try get the Aluminium off the sides of a van like the book suggests).

All in all, cost came to £133 including VAT and Next Day Delivery(Well, That's what it says, Do I believe it? No :-)). You might want to note that I need a bit more steel than the standard book chassis as I'm gonna have IRS and a lengthened cockpit.

That's pretty good I think, and their site is nice and easy to use. 30 quid cheaper than Rudgwick Metals (Who wouldn't deliver till the new year).

Oh, some free advice: Don't get any of your stuff cut. If (for instance) you need 1 meter of RHS. Get an uncut 6 meter length cos it _will_ be cheaper than them cutting it for you and you get some spare metal! If you can't store 6 meter lengths then just cut it on the day of delivery.

Other places in the south: Goodman Steel (I've heard they're good and someone on these boards said they're good for raiding their offcut bins).
