New car

I'm looking for a new motor and quite fancy a Volvo 850 auto, probably a T5 with all the trimmings. Anyone had any experiences with these?

Fast and thirsty, but if driven with care will average 30mpg, but the temptation is always there. Very comfortable car and nice to drive and surprisingly sporty in its feel and handling. Just about bombproof, but the top engine stabiliser wants swapping for a polyurethane bush as the Volvo ones are crap, about £20. Apart from that, watch the front ball joints as these are a weak spot. Fantastic cars for the money.

the aircon smells, good for 150mph
loads of torque used to tow caravans with one, for work not holidays! used to spin the wheels in third in the dry.
took a right pasting solid piece of kit

hmmm where do i start , auto boxes can wear out £1200 for an exchange one - as for driving pleasure theyre pretty good.

it really depends on the life theyve had before hand , youll be impressed by the performance - not so by the boat ride !! -its the only downfall in the more than capable chassis .

Stealerships can be reasonable - but theres loads of specialists out there now.

suspension links can wear out , heavy fwd car , and a rubbish turning circle .

of course if you like turbo and 5 cyl youll be so impressed by the performance it wont matter about small niggles .

and if you crash it(like i did) youll have a good engine to stick in the locost !!!!

850 T5 estate is my main driver.

very fast, much faster than the way I drive or need.

cavernous so handy for moving stuff but not so good when parking!

I get 25 mpg average. I did get 36 mpg once on a motor way trip with extreme economical driving.

Mine is manual without air con. Dealer service is ££££ but then aren't they all?
