Steel prices.

I was quoted 7 quid inc VAT for a 6.0m length of 25x25x1.5 half bright ERW today.
Is this about the norm just now ?
That was from Skerry Steel in Blantyre.

(Note - Metal Supermarket 13 quid for the same thing ).

Oh - and I bought a new welder last night as well. It's definitely going to happen.

And I secured a donor today as well.

Lying in a yard taking up space. Free to uplift.

I paid more than that 4yrs ago so it must only be the price of scrap that has gone up as it`s all going to China.

Doh, I just paid about £10 a length from Yorkshire Metal Suppliers. All the others I phoned said they didn't do 1.5mm. One of the others quoted 97p per m for 2mm thickness though. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Sounds like a good price to me!

Skerry never used to stock 1.5 --- must be Locosters driving demand. I had to buy from Tycho Tubes in Paisley.
