Speedo question

I want to fit a speedo calibrated in KPH as the main scale and MPH as the secondary scale. ie. The KPH scale on the outside of the gauge and MPH on the inside.
What do you think SVA pass or fail?

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

Can i suggest you give you rlocal centre a call on this. Im sure the manual says speedo should read MPH but doesnt state what configuration the scale is. I guess your KPH gauge shows the letter 'KPH' in the centre and has MPH as the minor smaller scale. I would say this is pushing your luck as they would argue it is calibrated in KPH.

Defo one to refer to the man who would argue it on the day. From experience they take the easy option on the phone as they wont be able to see it.

I would think you are o.k., as some imported vehicles need to go through the SVA. At least I think this is the case??

You are OK as long as both scales are clearly marked. The wife's Aprilia only had kph, so I did the necessary calulations, did a mock-up on the computer and then printed it out the right size on clear acetate. I pulled the speedo glass off and stuck the MPH sticker on the back of the glass, then put it all back together. The kph is the bigger (outside) scale, but the tester was happy.
