Fireblade top gear revs

I need to build the speedo sensor mount and set magnets / bolt heads for a base point to calibrate the speedo.

Can anyone with an EARLY blade engine and a 3.62 diff and 15" wheels give me a road speed per 1000revs in a given gear, any would do but probably 6th would be best.
Thanks in advance
Colin

70mph @ 7000rpm rings a bell.

Download the spreadsheet linked in my avatar, edit it as necessary to put in wheel size etc and then put in 7000rpm at the max revs, it will then work it all out for you in each gear

Just done it out of curiosity anyway, and with 195/50-15" tyres Hellfire's pretty much spot on for 5th, 68.5mph in 5th at 7k rpm. 6th is about 73-75mph depending on which year, as the later carbed engine (~97 onwards) had a slightly higher 6th.

Superb
My maths aint to bad, but I couldnt find the primary reduction ratio anywhere so was a bit stuffed. So presuming,my 93 engine is the ame as a 98 ? I've set in the different gaesr ratios and voila!

Right going to impress the neighbours now with the back end up on bricks and runs at 3000, 4000, and 8000 RPM

Cheers

Yep Im pretty sure the primary reduction and all the gears apart from top are the same throughout the carb engine life(93-99)

I need more magnets!
I've tried 4 magnets and the six bolt heads on the rear diff ouput flange and can still only get about 60% of 70m ph at 7000.
Anyone know where to get some small FLAT magnets?

Jay, thats about right with the bits youve got, will be lovely for the motorway

Sersiouly though, unless you're wanting that kind of cruising revs (and the equivalent of pulling away in 2nd gear in your average BEC), then I'd look at changing that otherwise acceleration is going to suffer as well as the clutch, and 5th/6th are just going to be for cruising basicaly.

3.14 is too tall a diff for an R1 IMHO.

3.38 is ideal and 3.62 is OK for most circumstances (as long as you don't regularly do trackdays at some of the faster circuits)

Reducing the silly wheel size would help a bit too (but thats another topic )

Cheers

Cheers fellas, may look into changing the diff. Think I was recommended the 3.14 of here
How much would it hinder the acceleration (compared to better ratio diff) coz i aint changin my lovely big wheels (I know 14 wud be better, just like the look of the 17s)

Just to close the thread I opened.
I've now got it running, on bricks and I'm getting 70 mph @ 7000 revs in 6th gear, with my Yellowbox on zero adjustment.
That means i've got plenty of room for fine tuning either way once its on the road, or rollers.
Thats with 8 magnets on the rear driveshaft. Pic in archive.
Thanks again
