Your kit will be designed around the Sierra so using any other donor would be harder than finding a Sierra.
I should start a donor delivery service, there's loda of Sierra around here.
Are you a Mac user or a retard?

Sierra - no choice.
You'll find one, look in the local papers. You've got plenty of time if you're picking up the kit in November.
Make sure you keep the VIN plate (grind it out).
What engine you using ?

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

Or just do what I did... drive around some of the worse estates until you see one that is looking sorry for itself... then knock on he door and make
an offer! I got an E reg 2.0Efi Ghia with full service history for £40
Just saw it sat in someones garden with only one headlight..

Thanks guys, I'll have to keep my eyes open. I'm putting in a Fireblade engine in, and to be honest I'm getting rather excited about
the project.

It's an interesting point though, pretty soon there won't be any Sierras left to buy. Are any of the kit manufacturers moving to a Mondeo
based kit soon?

The donor would need to be RWD drive for a 7 type car for obvious reasons.

Tried to think of newer donors last night, came up with:
Carlton
Omega
MX-5
BMW 3 series
Alfa GTV (bit old)
Various small vans - Suzuki / Daihatsu etc
Mitsubishi EVO (don't know how 4WD is organised though)
There must be others - any takers?

Because kits are for girls!!

That's true you couldn't do it all with a Mondeo.

Scot-ads worked for me. It took 3-4 weeks, but eventualy a guy in Kemnay called with a donor. A 1.8 CVH seirra (running/MOT failure), I went round to
see it with Calvinx and got it for £50. Hired a trailor for £30, stripped it in 1 month then got the shell collected for free.
I'll be ordering my MAC#1 ZR kit in Sept.
Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

you forgot granada/scorpio.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Gearbox drives the rear wheels with a transfer box on the side of the gearbox to drive the front.
You'd have to go for an early one though as the 4 and above all had AYC unless it was an RS (Rare as rockinghorse Sh*t)
The AYC diff and pump is around 100kg and £3k list price to replace if it goes bang.
The RS diff is so sort after by the 450brake+ guys as the standard pinion gear is a bit iffy. Other issue is the engine is a transversally mounted
setup. Only the old Lancer Turbo (RWD 2.0 turbo) was longtitudal.
