+442 owners, please read!

Hi all,

I looked in the photo section (trawled it painfuly really ) but i cant find a photo of a +442 car next to a standard book car. Im trying to decide how big I can go without the car losing its character. I saw some pics of +4 cars that didnt look right and was hoping someone may have been to a meet or show and took a pic of different size cars together. A +4 and a book would do, but im considering the +442 as i'll be putting a 2.9 V6 in it.....just not sure if the extra height would ruin the stature of this great looking car as much as a bonnet scoop would!

Thanks in advance, this really does seem like a great site.....not so much bitching and complaining as on other forums im used to

Thanks a lot for the reply but im really looking for a Locost +442 with a book car next to it!

Ive been told an extra 4 inches is easy to imagine looking at the plans, but its not until you see them side by side that you realise what you are missing, im not sure why she chuckled...but it sounds like good advice

I know it's not +442 vs locost, but Geoff (wilkingj) took photos comparing the Viento & Velocity. I guess you could use that as a start.

Uggh, the Viento looks like it needs to spend more time at the salad bar and less at the other sort of bar

OTOH, the Velocity has that dorky windscreen.

I think that the US Stalker manages to be big yet lean looking:

Jame's car is nearly a 442, he built it 10% wider before the mcsorley plans were about, so its approx +3.8 wider (uses a gts +4/w7de scuttle) it is also longer in the cockpit, an inch taller in the side panels and 3/4" taller bodywork. some pics in this thread:

but no comparisons as its not registered yet - but it is a big car. the sierra wheels and tyres and big (7" lights help with the proportions..

My car is plus four, (all the way along), and plus two in height. Due to the fact it has a V6 2.9i, and I wanted to use as much of the doner as possable, (even used the rack, unmodded). I know it's not along side a standard Locost but should give you some idea. The large frontal opening in the nosecone is a matter of choise, which over this VERY hot summer has proved itself, in as far as no over heating at all. Hope this helps you in your search. Regards Ray

Its not the inches you should look - proportions make it look what it is. And proportsions are right on frame +442. But they are totally wrong if you take +4 frame.
I have drawn some scetches and 422 will look in my opinion more agressive and will not loose arrow like shape.
