1 inch = 1000 thou
1 inch = 25.4 mm
so there are 1000/25.4 = 39.37 thou to 1 mm
(I think?)

Given roughly 25mm to one inch 1000/25 is 40 thou to one mm. which is rough and could be wrong. Jon
Beaten to it

Well IF your drill is 37 thou, and I would guess that it is, it is just about 1mm, so your 3mm drill is three times as thick. Ray

It's probably a number 37 drill which is .104 of an inch in diameter.
Thats 104/39.4 = 2.64mm

Which is 2.64mm, so it would look quite simmilar to a 3mm bit.

It's actualy 14.11 thou difference.
3mm * 39.37 = 118.11
118.11 - 104 = 14.11
