Fuel Injection cut off switch.
My fuel injection system has, built into the ecu a system by which if the engine is not turning the fuel pump will not run. i.e. If the ignition is on
the fuel pump will not start until the engine is turned.
does this meet SVA requirement or do i also need an inertia switch. There was not one fitted int he donor car, but i dont suppose that means much.

Don't recall any requirement for an inertia switch in SVA regs.
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator

Did not fit one to mine - v8 hotwire injection even though there is one inline to the fuel pump for this system.
SVA man did not question.

The mcu
measures rpm
as long as it measures rpm it will get the pump going.
by many accidents the engine stalls
and fuel pump cuts of.
but what if your keep going???
then with a broken fuel tube it would
spray fuel.
saying that that i have a BEC and they die soon sow i haven't fitted one.
i would have V8 i would do it..
an car engine to..

You DO NOT need an inertia or any other fuel cut of switch for SVA.
The twat who was selling them on fleebay was claiming that you did but it is bu****it.
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

I fited one from a rover 400 to mine purely to feel safer in the event of an accident .I located it on the front of the scuttle and have had no false
triggering of it as i was told may happen.

If you are worried about the fuel pump running on then a relay on the oil pressure switch sorts this and protects the engine, you just need to bypass
when keying the ignition.
This is a good idea for carbs as well, hence SD1 rovers had it fitted as standard.
Anyway most EFI systems run the pump for 5 seconds when initially keyed and die when the revs drop to zero, including RV8 hotwire and flappy box !

yea, no need for inertia switch for sva.
nearly took the one off my sierra, it objected to my driving on rough roads, (though only a couple of times and they were heavy landings to be fair!)
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion

No requirement from sva, but for the cost, a worth while item.
You can put in a oil pressure switch jobby but it will probably cost the same.
Rover V8's had them fitted just above the oil filter . They were the most common cause of starting failures
