Alternative to Escort mk2 steering rack?

hi,

Im just browsing for parts I will be needing for my locost project..

Can anyone tell me if there is an alternative steering rack for the Escort Mk2 type?

Has anyone used another steering rack with success and what needed to be adjusted..

thanks

Lots of people have used the Sierra steering rack, but the rack and housing need to be shortened to get the correct geometry.

hiya, i think that unless u have a reason not 2 use the escort rack then go for the escort 1, the quick ratio ones are meant to be nice and cheap and they fit without any major mods.

I have a Cortina rack on mine. Fits a treat without the need for extended ends.

I did struggle recently though to find a replacement as mine failed MOT for play. Cortina was specified in the Formula 27 plans I have so I guess they were common a few years ago.
