What size mm^2 battery earth?

What cable have people used for their main battery negative lead to the chassis?

Is 25mm^2 enough? That 170 amp cable. I cant remember what cable my pinto starters got on it, and I want to get the cable ordered so its ready when i get home.

Any one take a look for me? Just measure the OD of the starter cable?

Cheers,
David

Not sure if you mean the stuff like Car Audio Power Cable but in the Maplins catalogue it advises that it is not for use on starter motors etc.

No idea why, maybe it doesn't take vibration or peak amperage well, or the insulation isin't as good.

the only reason i say that is the semi-rigid stuff that has very few strands cannot carry the current as well and can cause starting problems

my escort has a 4m length of welding earth cable 25mm^2 does the job nicely
