T5 Gearbox Alternative

Hi im still deciding on weather to go 4wd or rwd with my cossie powered locost.
I have all the 4wd parts, but like the idea and easier option of rwd. But the T5 gearboxes are £££. is there a alternative gear box to use? I'll be running 280bhp ish. or do i just have to make the jump and buy one? Any help would be great. Cheers.

At 280 bhp you are going to find that there really is not alternative cheaper however the Type 9 and MT75 come in 4x4 form and are cheap may be worth going that route first then upgrading when it goes bang or funds become available. Other 4x4 sevens have been done but the transfer box bights into the drivers cabin about mid calf to knee, would be alright for a left hooker though

You can use a 2wd or 4wd MT75, they will be fine with 280hp.
