Ford industrial engines

These look like crossflow engines, maybe similar to the ones in the Festiva. DIS, clutch, flywheel, carb....seems like a good deal if you're looking for a tiny engine, esp if it is related to the crossflow.

I thought it was only the Pinto engines that rattled and smoked and were the worst engines ever produced. Do you mean to tell me that Ford produced more engines with the same characteristics?........

I had a V4 tranny pickup for two years and it never missed a beat and my Pinto doesn't rattle now it has a new cam. CVH only rattle when they are neglected in the oil change department bu the Valencia or HCS is renowned for it's metallic sound qualities.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

The Valencia was ok to be honest, I had a 1.1 Mk2 Fiesta and it had pretty good performance considering. It's succsessor the HCS was worse in almost every way, including longevity.

The newest variant of this engine, the 8v Duratec is still being sold!

We used to get a G reg 1.3 Escort with the HCS motor in once a year for MOT & service. It got no other attention unless it broke down. When the rot finally killed it a couple of years ago it had 223,000 on the clock (which had stopped due to the diff bearings going & eating the plastic drive gear). The motor was never apart in the time I knew the car.
But it did rattle a fair bit
