depends what your after. If you want to race, then it depends on what the series will allow. If its for summer cruising then its a car engine like a
16v zetec and you wouldnt be far wrong. But if its just a toy that you wanna have fun in then a bike engine is the way to go

what do you want to use it for?
Your engine choice is dependant on so many things that just asking for suggestions is a bit pointless.
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

As I am just about to advertise my Pinto it would be wrong of me to comment
I would recommend a Zetec, as that's what I am upgrading to, but it depends what you want. Pinto gives reasonable power at low cost. Zetec and
XE are better but more money. Bike engines are.... No let's not start that one again!!
Summer's here!!!!

Zetec 2.0
Vauxhall XE
Duratec HE
Honda K20A
Seem to be the more popular NA choices for modern powerful engines.
I'm a 1.6 4AGE 20V fan as I almost always use Toyota engines. Compact, light weight and strong block. Yamaha designed 5 valve per cylinder head
with ITBs as standard. High revving and proven reliability. Good choice for a stock bolt in engine but ultimately not as much tuning potential as the
above in NA format (unless your budget is big).
As for BEC my experience is with a ZZR1100 in a Radical Clubsport. Full race season with no issues so got to be considered.
Hayabusa next season though with a 1400cc stroker kit and not much change from 5K just for the engine alone.

Motorsport?
And if planning on doing any hillclimbs or sprints, then stick to a car derived engine of under 1700cc, or you'll end up in a very quick class.

petta 7.4 hp engine
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, Chardonnay in one hand, Tequila in the other, body bearing battle scars and totally worn out, screaming- WOO HOO!! What a Ride!

Damn, how did I miss this one.......
There really is only one choice and to that end, your question isn't quite right. Allow me to rephrase it for you slightly.
"I need a bike engine for my car. Any suggestions"
Now let me answer it for you
Any bike engine with at least 900cc will do. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki etc.
Why people build such a lightweight car and then stick a great big heavy car engine in it, which ultimately kills it's performance and agility,
is beyond me.

Im with Hellfire on this one! Why build a lightcar then burden it with a heavy engine and H pattern gearbox, when for half the weight you could have
more power and 6 speed sequential!
(I do have a Honda Blackbird engine for sale if you do go this route-dyno'd with 150 bhp at the wheels!!!!)

I think bike engines put people off a little bit Plus if u only want it for the road its prob not best engines to have in. Then u got cost on top you
can pick up a pinto for about £100 ish and can stick to book for build.

Im with Phil on this one. How anyone can contemplate putting a car eninge in a car is beyond me.
To quote a well known phrase - horses for courses.
The more regular avid readers wil snigger at this point but my reply is well founded. If you want a fast screamer that sounds and performs as close
to a F1 car as you can get for sub 10 grand then go bike engine. If you want a weekend tourer then CEC might suit you better. As posted previously
state your intention and the suggestions will be more aligned.
