Zetec oil level

I have Shortand my 2.0L Zetec sump so now when I put in the 4.3L of oil that it was originaly ment to have in the oil is about 1/2 inch past the max mark on the dipstic. Is this ok or will i get crank splash? Do you think I should just fill it up to the max mark?

hi,

as long as the dipstick is not fouling on the bottom of the new sump, I would stick to the max mark- which will still indicate the highest safe level

I have the same type of setup and have been told that you just have to accept a smaller oil volume, shouldent be a problem

Yep, I second les. It's paramount you dont go over the max level, it can lead to serious issues. It just means you are going to have to make more regular oil changes which to be honest with the sort of milage your looking at on an annual basis your still probably within the limits of only one oil change a year.......unless your names SHORTIE and never bothers to check his oil and depends on the lovely tones produced by the 'clanking' noise on both his on his Vectra & Zafira as reminder!!

I just assumed the clanking noise is there to warn you when the engine needs a few litres of oil!!

Anyway, isn't part exchange great

I ran this setup for a while and ended up with really frothy oil.

Dropped it back down to only just over the max mark and been fine ever since (been running a blacktop for 2 years now)

Hi,
I'm making my own dipstick, does anyone knows how far the maximum oil level mark is from the underside of the engine block on a Zetec 2.OL black top?

I am planning to add an oil cooler to recover the lost capacity, although this wont be directed to much airflow.

My concern is that when driving hard (is there any other way ) the oil will get too hot unless there is sufficient capacity.

Summer's here!!!!
