Tom Tom or Garmin?
Hi All.
I'm looking at buying a Sat Nav at the lower end of the price range and local mates have recommended
Tom Tom One (Europe) or Garmin C510.
Both are £199 (Argos) so what do you all recommend?
Somewhere cheaper? Something better?
I'm in your hands.
Thanks in anticipation

I've used Navman for years with no problems - Tom Tom is pretty good too.
Cheers,
Raz

I agree with Razman in respect to Navman, I'm using a Pin570 Navman unit which is a PDA type, and its great. Best part is last time I was in
halfrauds they were selling them for £99!!! If however you want tomtom or garmin, my vote would be with Garmin every time, they have a lot more
experience behind them with GPS units etc. Not saying tomtom are rubbish, but Garmin would be my first choice.
Regards
Matt

I've a Garmin Nuvi 310. It's superb. Bought my Dad a Garmin C510 for his birthday. He's very pleased with it. Garmin build GPS units
for land sea and air. They get my vote.

?????? You lot are not playing the game. ??????
A dozen or so of you were all supposed to recommend one make, and no one the other.
The Gadget show says Tom Tom, Which says Garmin.
I think I'll toss a coin, but then I do like that tee shirt.
Thanks for the replies so far.

should make it a garmin everytime. tomtom are market leaders in the uk but garmin rule the world. have taken 20% market share off tomtom this calender
year alone. customer care at garmin is second to none and i would know as i have to deal with faulty satnavs several times a day.
very good chance you holiday jet didnt get lost on the way,as it would be using garmin, royal navy dont get lost and there on garmin sysytems.
in terms of ease of use not much in it but mapping is better on the garmin, they use navteq while tomtom still use teleatlas although some of there
newer products (see tomtom rider) are going over to navteq.
tomtom one does well in reviews but they dont have to live with them or rely on them day to day, garmin 660 is a fantastic unit once you get under the
skin of all its features.
just my humble...................
been a bit of a rush job really, bodged it all together in just 5 1/2 years.
