Escort diff
I currently have a 3.9 escort diff and am looking to get a 3.54 diff, my question is can i buy the diff on its own and will it fit my current drive
shafts?
I beleive my shafts would be 22 spline at the mo anyone know if 3.54 diffs are the same.

SHOULD be fine but if not you can always change the crownwheeland pinion only.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

3.9 and 3.54 are a direct swap.
I had one lying around but I'll be buggered if I can find it these days.

I've done this swap. But had to change it back as the replacement diff was knackered.

You haven't said what kind of Escort axle you have - swaping final drive ratios on the Salsbury isn't as as easy as the English.

I think its just called the english axle not to sure.
Cheers guys thought it was straight swap just wanted to double check before sourcing one.

English or Atlas axle?
Salisbury was just the plate type limited slip as fitted to Range Rovers wasn't it? Does it have a diff cover that bolts on the rear or a diff
that pulls out through the front?

Not true quite a lot of the MK2 Escorts sold in the UK were built in Ghent also Ford had a mix and match policy with parts to cover shortages due to
supply problems. The salsury axles were mostly found on the Escort 1100 "Popular" and Vans.

If you do have a European Escort axle instead of an English, rare that they are, I'd advise you to get an English as the European axles are weak
and alternative ratios and other bits are difficult to come by.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

I go to the Ford plant in Genk a lot were they currently build the Mondeo and they have old cars in their heritage collection.
Next to the MK2 Escort is the dates and quantity, over 800,000. So I presume they built Escorts that came over here.
That said Halewood built them for the UK so there may be a mix.
I may also be talking a load of bollox
