toyo 888 v proxes t1s

Is there any difference between the 2 types of toyo tyres.
I want to use them for trackdays so would appreciate input from people who have used them

there's a huge difference, the main one being price! i've had both though.

the r888 is a medium/soft compound pretty much dry tyre. it gives absolutely buckets of grip from cold, but with warm summer roads, you really have to be pushing to unstick it. they pick up all sorts of poo on the roads because they're just that sticky. sketchy in the wet!

the t1-s is a pretty hard compound relatively, and needs a good bit of warming up til it's anywhere near the adhesion of the r888 cold. it's more suited to a saloon, as you'll struggle to get them warm enough on a 7. far better in the wet than the r888. i put my wheels from the indy (with t1-s's on) on my cav for a couple of days and was really impressed with them for something of that weight. they completely cured it's penchant for severe understeer, but i was never keen on them on the indy.

go yoko a539s if you can still get them if you don't want to go for the r888s

dont bother wasting your money on the t1-s's there crap !!!!! everyone ive known who has had them with the cheap wheel and tyre packages from halfords has removed them almost straight away
you cant go far wrong on the r888s if you want good road legal tyres at sensible money

I have t1s on my car at the moment, after recomendations from here. They aren't quite as good as the Pirelli P6000 that came with my wheels. The T1s from new were terrible but after a few hundred miles they've beeded in. I wouldn't have any more.

The 888 have small tread grooves so I wouldn't want them for winter (or some summers days) but for the dry they look great.

888's for dry trackdays without a doubt..

In the wet they require some skillz, but doable if you are smooth

A048R's are the same...

as stated before the r888 is far superior to the t1R /S.
if you are using them for track days go for the R888, i had a set of four 195/50/15 delivered for £240.00 from tyretraders.com

yoko 021s good all rounder far better than t1s in the dry and good in the wet .can get a bit warm on hot track days.about £55 a corner cheapest ive seen t1s is £47 in 13"

depending on how likely you are to do a wet track day - personally I setup with good dry weather tyres (R888's/cut slicks) and then on the off chance of rain just run some Cheaper tyres like Goodyear Eagle F1's just so I can drive if its wet (are not going to amazing in the wet but still means you can drive and have fun)
