Sierra Gearbox

Hi
I have a 1992 Ford Sierra 1800cc 5 door manual hatchback. Would the gearbox be a type 9.
Cheers
Barry

89 was the Mk1/Mk2 change over, but typical of Ford, they used the type nines until they ran out!

I would have thought a 92 would have been a MT75.

I believe that reverse is in a different place on the gate but I'm buggered if I can remember which is which!

Cheers

type 9 reverse is up left and up ie next to first
mt75 reverse is below position 5 also type 9 has push down to engage rev
mt75 has a lift up bit on the knob
hope it helps

sure the mt75 was only fitted to 2l in 2wd and the 2.9 v6 in 4wd

I have two late K 1.8 sierra's both have type 9's

On the late 2.0's, the type 9 was fitted to the pinto, and the MT75 to the twincam
