What does this engine number refer to?????
I have just purchasd a 929 Fireblade engine from fleabay. The engine number is SCA - (7 digits) but as far as i was aware it should be SC44E - (7
digits).
Does anyone know what this number / code stands for? Help................

yes your right it should be................
SC44E-2000001 onwards,,954 blade started with SC50E-*******//
maybe you should talk to the seller did he state that it had engine no's etc

I did speak to the seller prior to end of auction and he said there was a number but he was not able to get to the enigne before the end. As there was
only 1 hour left before it finished I took a flyer and went for it.
I'm happy with the engine but need peace of mind on the number.

does it look like it's been filed etc,maybe try honda with the number see if they can identify it,but it is not a 929 number,failing all that
see if you can pick up a trashed block for a proper number

The number looks spot on to me. I have put a picture of this in my photo's FYI (as i have not mastered getting it on the reply)
It has got the standard 929cm3 marking on the engine., so I am assuming it stands for a recon engine???

Not a brilliant picture but this is a 954 ,will give you an idea of what it should look like.
had a look at your picture something doesn,t look right maybe someone else can shed some light,do they renumber them when they recon them???

Im looking at both sets of pics and see nothing wrong at all. Prefer the brunette though!! 
As for the engine numbers, Im no expert but the one in the photo album looks to be done by hand. The one above looks to be done by machine.
If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!
