Porsche 911 Advice

hi,

It must be the hot stuffy weather and having the damn car windows seize shut on the old car, but I’m thinking of selling my beloved Bluebirds in favour of buying an old air-cooled 911 with a ruddy great whale tail.

Does anyone have one, not asking if its for sale but is there anything I should be looking out for. I remember that they started to galvanise the panels and some of the parts are the same as the beetles. What is the expected mileage that they will run for? You know that kind of thing…

There’s one down in the car park that needs a bit of tlc but I have a look and its at 144k, sounds a tad high.

Any help would be appreciated

cheers

A mate of mine had an 86 C-Reg on 165K and it ran as sweet as a nut.

Check out 911&Porsche World in Smiths, a few months back they had a buyers guide for the classic 80's air cooled models, high mileage doesn't seem to be a problem as long as they have been reasonably well looked after.

HTH.

Hmm, I had to look up the net to see what that is. Looks like a complicated stereo, my IT guru knowledge showing through there I think I would have went for the car.

Yeah, I have no intension of getting one that isn't galvanized or is rusty, as I've had enough of that nonsense with my beetles over the years. I'm going to find out who owns that one down in the car park and have a word.

Wish it was a stereo.
